Configuring Eudora E-Mail

The following settings will help you configure your Eudora Mail Client to
pick up your WestNet mail. There may be slight differences in the
instructions and your particular client, depending on the version and the
platform (PC or MAC) that you use. We have tried to be as complete
as possible. If you have further questions, please contact the WestNet Staff.

To configure the mail settings in Eudora version 7.X:
- Open the Eudora mail client
- Drop down the Tools menu
- select Options. If you do
not have a Tools menu, Select Special menu and
choose Settings.
- Under "Category:", click on Getting Started
- In the Real Name dialogue box, enter your name as you
want it to appear on your e-mail messages
- In the MailServer (Incoming) box, enter pop.westnet.com
- In the Email Address box, enter your
e-mail address
- In the SMPT Server box, enter mail.westnet.com
- Check Allow authentication
- Under "Category:", click on Checking Mail
- Set 'Secure Sockets when Receiving' to 'Never.'
- Under "Category:", click on Sending Mail
- In the SMTP dialogue box, enter mail.westnet.com
- Check the box next to 'Allow authentication.'
- Check the box next to "Use submission port (587)"
- Set 'Secure Sockets when Sending' to 'Never,'
Click OK
If you want to save your mail password, then
- Drop down the Tools menu, and select Options
- Under "Category:", click on Checking Mail
- Check the Save Password option
To configure the mail settings in Eudora Light or Eudora Pro version 3.X:
- Drop down the Tools menu, and select Options. If you do
not have a Tools menu, look under the Special menu and
choose Settings.
- Under "Category:", click on Getting Started
- In the POP Account dialogue box, enter your WestNet
e-mail address
- In the Real Name dialogue box, enter your name as you
want it to appear on your e-mail messages
- Under "Category:", click on Hosts
- In the SMTP dialogue box, enter mail.westnet.com
- Leave both Ph and Finger fields blank
If you want to save your mail password, then
- Drop down the Tools menu, and select Options
- Under "Category:", click on Checking Mail
- Check the Save Password option

To configure the mail settings in Eudora Pro version 4.0:
- Drop down the Tools menu, and select Options
- Under "Category:", click on Getting Started
- In the Real Name dialogue box, enter your name as you
want it to appear on your e-mail messages
- In the Return Address dialogue box, enter your WestNet
e-mail address
- For Mail Server (Incoming), enter
pop.westnet.com
- For Login Name, enter your WestNet userid (all lower
case)
- Under "Category:", click on Sending Mail
- In the SMTP dialogue box, enter mail.westnet.com
If you want to save your mail password:
- Under "Category:", click on Checking Mail
- Check the Save Password box
